As the holiday season comes to a close, it’s normal to feel a little burnt out. No matter which industry you’re in, it can seem like a mad dash to the end of the year. For business owners, there’s more than enough on your plate with your regular day-to-day tasks and planning for the coming year.
Here are 3 ideas to help you wind down after the holiday season ends:
- Catch up with friends and family: No one close to a business owner is immune from the time commitment necessary to run a business. Take a few hours and catch up with friends and family. Make sure to let them know you appreciate them and their support.
- Take a day to yourself: As a business owner you’re often giving your time to your business, your employees, and you give the leftovers to your family. Take a day and do what you want to do (with or without other people) go to a movie, go for a hike, get a massage, workout, or just plain do nothing. Leave work and the pressures of the year to come at the door for a day, and you’ll be surprised how good you’ll feel.
- Make a list of the “fun” things you want to do in the next year: As the wife of a small business owner, I find that if we write something down, it’s more likely to happen. We keep a list of fun activities we’d like to do together and somehow as the year ticks by we cross things off. (Pro tip: hang the list in a visible spot.)
