For today’s post, we spoke with Orin Moore, owner and founder of Corinne’s Catfish in Lewisville, Texas. The On Deck Team found this story particularly inspiring – and we hope our readers to do.
1. What is your business, and how did you get started?
My business is Corinne’s Catfish and we serve Louisiana style cuisine in Lewisville, TX. I began the business five years ago, after surviving a heart transplant and spending two years on bed rest. I realized life was too short, and knew I needed to pursue something I loved.
Corinne’s Catfish started with one employee and eventually grew month-over-month, year-after-year. After two years, we opened another location and have continued to grow. I am truly humbled by the amount of success I have received.
2. What do you love most about being a small business owner?
I love being able to connect with my customers. I know just about everyone’s name that walks through my doors and they know mine. I get a satisfaction, like any great artist, of people enjoying what I do.
3. How is your business helping your local community?
Simply put: I’m creating jobs in my neighborhood. We are very active with schools and churches helping sponsor a variety of events and activities. We also make a point to donate to our local food bank.
4. If you could tell a new customer one thing that makes your business great, what would it be?
We’re a real family here. Most of our customers are repeat customers. They sincerely enjoy what we do and how we do it. Some come in two to four times a week.
